When I was a child, I would always inquire as to what type of animals lived in the area that we were visiting. In fact, this obsession was so pronounced that I even recall asking the same question during carpool rides on my way to school, as we crossed an itty-bitty suburban "forest" on our daily drive.
Unsurprisingly, as I have grown-up, I still favour destinations where I can encounter animals in their natural habitats. I am deeply humbled by nature, and it always feels like such a privilege to encounter the beautiful creatures that call the place that we are visiting "home".
